One More Fancy Fold Card from the Creativate Retreat

Happy Saturday!

Here is the final card from last weekend's virtual stamping retreat. When I saw the pieces and the cutting and scoring directions, I wasn't sure that I could make it turn out right, but I did!

Stampin' Up! Demonstrator Sharon Armstrong designed this and calls it a Pop-Out Slider Card.  It certainly does that!

Don't be afraid to try one of these fun folds.
Stamp on!

Flip Top Fancy Fold Card

Today I am bringing you another of the fun fold cards from last weekend's online stamping retreat.

Sharon Armstrong presented this fold - she calls it a flip top fancy fold card. She used different Designer Series Paper, but as soon as I saw her card I knew I wanted to use this soon-to-be-retired DSP.

This is the Enjoy the Journey paper from the January to April 2023 Stampin' Up! Mini Catalog. The word stamps are from a long-retired Stampin' Up! set that I have, and the image stamps and on the inside and all die cuts are from the Greatest Journey stamp set and matching dies, also in the mini catalog and also retiring at the end of this month.

Here is how the card looks when opened:

I enjoyed making this card and want to try the fold with other stamps and papers too. It's not difficult but certainly will be a "WOW" factor card for whoever I mail it to :-)

Happy Stampin!

Two Fun Fold Cards from the Online Retreat

Hi Stampin' Friend!

I am bringing you two more of the cards I made with last weekend's online stamping retreat.  Both of these are fun folds, one is pretty simple to make, the other is a bit complex but not hard.

First the simpler one -

This is basically 2 cards layered together. Then I die cut the opening in the outer card. Removing the card from my Big Shot die cutting machine, I folded the card so I could see the middle layer through the opening I just die cut in the top layer. Using Washi tape to hold it in place, I centered the next size smaller die in the opening. I opened the card all the way up and die cut the second layer.  Then I stamped and decorated with the die cut flowers.

Incidentally, all the stamps and flower dies that I used on this card are from the Peaceful Moments and Painted Poppies stamp sets and their coordinating die cuts. Sadly, they are all retiring in a few weeks. I am going to miss the set with the words because it has coordinating sentiments for card fronts and insides, for a variety of occasions.  Check them out in case you want to add them to your stamp collection before they are gone.

Here is what the card looks like  when opened.

The cards and matching envelope are from the Tea Boutique cards and envelopes set, also retiring soon.

And here is the more complex but oh-so-fun card -

This template has been around for awhile but it was fun to revisit it during the retreat. I used retired stamps, punches, cardstock (Just Jade) and designer series paper, because I have so much to use up and it is so pretty.

Yes, it really is a card, and folds to fit in a standard A2 envelope.

There is a place to write a note on the back of the box.

Would you like to make either of these cards yourself? I am always happy to schedule a private card class at your convenience with any of the designs I show, although the colors and patterns may differ slightly. Simply contact me and we'll set something up.

I have more cards to share with you. Watch for my next blog post. Happy Stampin!

Cards from an online retreat

Hi Stampin' Friend!

I just finished a one and a half day online stamping retreat, and as I told my husband, it was worth the price of admission. I won't go on and on about the details here, but if you would like to know more about it, feel free to ask.

Long story short, I finished 6 cards out of the 8 sessions and hope to do the other 2 projects soon. You can see my results in the above photo. All but one of those cards are fun folds, which I will share with you in this and future posts.

The card that was not a fun fold was this one that features the spotlighting technique. I like that it is a simple design but still very interesting. I used the Butterfly Brilliance stamp, which is retiring at the end of this month. It has matching dies, which I used on another card during the retreat, and which are also retiring.

This fold was introduced by presenter Brandy Cox and she called it an M-fold. I used some of the Designer Series Paper I earned during Sale-A-Bration and also the butterfly dies that I mentioned above. Another card that is quite easy to make but has the Wow-factor for the person who will receive it!

I'll share more of the Creativate cards in my next post.  Happy Stampin!
